Theakston Old Peculier is a well-known old ale from T&R Theakston, a brewery in Masham, North Yorkshire. Theakston, the UK's second-largest family-owned brewer, has been making this classic ale since the early 1800s. 
In 1989, the cask version of Old Peculier was voted Champion Strong Ale of Britain at the Great British Beer Festival. It was voted Champion of Champions in the 2007 Yorkshire Beer Championship.
